Mullin WIFFLE Ball Tournament

Established 2011

In Loving Memory of David Charles Mullin

This is a tournament held annually by the Mullin Family in Anderson, Missouri. This is a two day, double-elimination tournament. There is a Dutch-Oven Cook-Off on the Saturday night of the tournament.  There is a Male MVP and a Female MVP, and the voting is done by their fellow players. Lora Mullin(pictured right with Elijah Curtis in 2017) was the League's Commissioner from 2011-2022 and started the Tournament. Lora was a part of the league as a player until she retired following the 2013 season. She was apart of the first championship team in 2011 with the Cardinals. Despite great efforts and countless hours of work, Lora never won the League MVP. Caleb Curtis took over as the League's commissioner following the 2022 season.

Bats

Bats

Established 2011. Owned by Rachael McAdams since 2011 Champions: 2014, 2017, 2019.

The Bats, Crush 'M, Bad News Bears. Whatever you want to call them, they've taken control over the league. The Bats have appeared in 6 championship games(winning three of them) and four Bats players have been named MVP.

When Elijah Curtis took over as the field manager for the 2017 and 2018 seasons, the Bats went 10-4 while appearing in both championships, and also having a Men's MVP in 2017 and a Women's MVP in 2018.

In 2019, Rachael McAdams got her third championship as a manager behind a stellar rookie season by Raygan Bradley, and plenty of help from Matthew Mora.

The Bats went by "Crush 'M" in 2011 & 2012, then by "The Bad News Bears" in 2013, before finally settling with "Bats" in 2014 when they finally won their first championship behind Caleb Curtis' first MVP performance.

Rachael McAdams was the first manager to have team uniforms.

Black Mambas

Black Mambas

Established 2011. Owned by Mike Mullin since 2011. Champions: 2012, 2018.

Mike Mullin has put together a very solid Black Mambas franchise over 14 years. The team has appeared in 6 championships, which is the most of any team, and boasted 7 League MVP's, which leads the circuit.

The Mambas became the first team to sweep the MVP awards in 2021 while appearing in their second straight championship game. There have been four rookie MVPs in league history and three of them have been with the Mambas; Andrea Humphries in 2014; Ethan Berkshire in 2020; Cloee Helm in 2023.

The Black Mambas went by "S.W.A.T." in 2013 due to an identity crisis.

Cardinals

Cardinals

Established 2011. Owned by Matt Mullin since 2011. Champions: 2011, 2013.

The Cardinals were the first dynasty in league history. Two championships in the first three seasons, along with manager Matt Mullin winning the first two MVP's (and almost snagging the third one) made the Cardinals a powerhouse name in the league.

The team has since fallen off, as they have only made it to the finals once since their 2013 title run. The Cards have also only finished in the top-half of the league three times since that 2013 banner season, but the team has only finished last in two of those seasons (2014 & 2025).

The Cardinals did not field a team in 2019, and from 2021-2023 due to a slew of unfortunate circumstances.

The Cardinals went by the "Chiefs" in 2013 due to a uniform malfunction.

Timberwolves

Timberwolves

Established 2011. Owned by Elijah Curtis since 2020. Champions: 2021, 2024.

The Timberwolves have become a juggernaut in the league after once being the known doormat of the family circuit.

After 9 seasons of ownership/management, Janie Daugherty only had a couple finals appearances and a couple players bring home MVP awards to show for it. The other 3 original franchises had already won 2 titles a piece, and two expansion teams had already claimed a crown, thus the term "Wolf Pack Curse" would be used often around the league.

She eventually sold the team to Elijah Curtis, who was hunting for an opportunity to run his own team, and he had actually won the Wolf Pack's first MVP in 2013. The final purchase went for three Yankee Candles, naming rights(Keeping the team name wolf-related), and ownership of the first championship trophy.

It took Elijah just two seasons to accomplish the feat of winning a championship, following a thrilling 7-inning title game against Janie and the Black Mambas in 2021. The Wolves then returned to the title game in 2022 and 2023 behind Elijah's record-shattering seasons but fell just short in both attempts to the Base Bandits. The Wolves would make their fourth straight championship appearance in 2024 and run the tables, as they completed just the second undefeated season in the league's history, behind the stellar bats and defense of Elijah and Raygan Bradley.

Base Bandits

Base Bandits

Established 2016. Owned by Morgan Mullin since 2016. Champions: 2016, 2022, 2023.

The Base Bandits have easily found the most success of the expansion teams in the League.

They capped off their inaugural season with a lopsided victory over the Wolf Pack in the Championship game. That was followed up with a runner-up finish in year two, as well. 2018-2020 was a bit of a lull, as the team never finished higher than fourth in that span. Things picked back up in 2021 when they finished 3rd, before they boasted the League's first back-to-back Championship reign from 2022-2023.

Manager Morgan Mullin has a record 5 championships, having won in 2012 and 2015 just as a player before branching out and creating the Base Bandits.

Gorillas

Gorillas

Established 2016. Owned by Caleb Curtis since 2016. Champions: 2020, 2025.

The Gorillas simply couldn't make it to the big game in their first 4 season, as they were knocked out in the semi-finals in 2017 and 2019, thus never finishing higher than 3rd in their early years, but Mark Arnold did provide the franchise with its first MVP winner in 2019.

The Gorillas finally got their first title in 2020. Carly Mullin's campaign for her only Women's MVP was vital to the team's success, as they relied upon stellar defense and timely hitting. The 2025 Gorillas squad went back to the well with the small-ball mentality, and became just the league's third undefeated team, despite never scoring more than 6 in any game and winning 4 of their 7 games by just one run.

The Gorillas did not field a team in 2021 or 2022 due to work priorities and COVID-19 or whatever, I'm totally over it.

The team traditionally wears the name "Harambe" on their right sleeve in remembrance of the fallen gorilla from the Cincinnati Zoo.

Legends

Legends

Established 2018. Owned by Ben Cramer since 2018. No Championships

The team formerly known as the Havildars typically find great tournament success, despite rough play during round-robin play.

In the team's inaugural season, they entered the tourney as the five seed and left with a third place finish. In 2019, the team managed to go winless in pool-play, then almost pull off the Cinderella run while falling to the Bats in the championship game. Team Captain, Ben Cramer, had his best statistical season in 2021 while having an incredibly inconsistent roster. They entered the 2022 tournament as the 2 seed, but fell in back-to-back games to finish third. Shae Barton did however bring home the first MVP in franchise history. 2023 was the first time the Legends have struggled in Sunday games, as they went 2-and-out to finish last. The Legends did not field a team in 2020 due to Covid-19 complications.

Bees

Bees

Established 2014. Owned by Lora Mullin since 2024 Champions: 2015. Discontinued from 2016-2023

The Bees were the first expansion team in Tournament history to claim a championship when they edged the Black Mambas in the 2015 finale (They went by the Master Blasters then).

The team was discontinued and replaced by two more expansion teams(Base Bandits & Gorillas) in 2016, before being brought back out of retirement by former commissioner Lora Mullin in 2024, due to an influx of new players.

The short-lived Master Blaster (2014-2016) era was a solid one, as they made two championship appearances in their original three seasons and had Morgan Mullin win the first of her three straight Women's MVPs in 2015.

The team's "Bee" name originates from their inaugural season, when they went by the "Newbees" due to being the first expansion team in league history. They went by the name Master Blasters during the 2015 and 2016 seasons.
